Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for a new domestically developed defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. The first three manufacturers have begun production, with an additional eleven preparing to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Situations

These UAVs utilize a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated effective “at night, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and wicked” after six people were killed and dozens injured in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in Kyiv just after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Zelenskyy reported the country was targeted by 430 drones and 18 missiles. The deceased were at home in a block of flats on the capital's left bank during the strike. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Protest Following Embassy Destruction

The Azerbaijani government announced it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday following the embassy damage. Russian forces were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs per day, with the previous month's daily average being about 170, based on official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s maritime terminal of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports this past Friday – representing two percent of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”

Ukraine additionally struck a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels overnight.

International Sanctions Impact Russian Energy Company
