Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”
The college, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
