Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
