Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
